The artwork on this snapback hat is by Natalia, an AIME mentee in the SCU Lismore program.
“I used skulls to represent the death of past Indigenous people and the snake represents their reincarnation.
The meeting places symbolise a new generation coming together from all over the country, just as the 17 art interns have done.
I want people to see that there was grief in the past but the future of our culture is bright.
I want the viewer to feel empathy for what has happened but also proud of how far our culture has come.”
