Martin Baptist // Art

On December 1st we launch AIME OP SHOP to support 100,000 marginalised kids by 2025. It’s the first global digital op shop that brings together people who want to make the world a better place to share their soulful creations and share their stories of how they've made it. So we can create a heap of opportunities for young kids currently with life's door closed on them.

ABOUT MARTIN: Martin Baptist is a Queensland born contemporary artist who has exhibited throughout Australia and Internationally since 2001. He has collaborated with a diverse array of creative partners and labels including Paramount House (Sydney), Cliché (France), Krooked Skateboards (USA), Huffer (New Zealand), Adidas, Rittenhouse (Australia), and Oakley amongst many. Martin has often exhibited alongside contemporaries such as Mark Gonzales, Shaun Gladwell, Lee Ralph & Dan Boyd. His work is held in numerous private and institutional collections.

ABOUT MARTIN: Martin Baptist is founder and Creative Director of Japan National, since 2017. In 2020 he launched the Japan National Concept Store Gallery in Byron Bay, Australia. Martin’s paintings are a mix of astute observations and out loud thoughts. His work has a dark sense of humour that he matches off against the everyday. His imagery ranges from oblique pop culture references to loose figurative observations. Baptist’s use of text adds a cryptic overture, ranging from gentle jest to subversive honesty. Baptist's work questions how we live our daily lives. Often stating the obvious he creates an air of uncertainty around the simplest of things.
