The artwork on this snapback hat is by Natalia, an AIME mentee in the SCU Lismore program.
I used skulls to represent the death of past Indigenous people and the snake represents their reincarnation. The meeting places symbolise a new generation coming together from all over the country, just as the 17 art interns have done. I want people to see that there was grief in the past but the future of our culture is bright. I want the viewer to feel empathy for what has happened but also proud of how far our culture has come.
